Ever since going to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam I have been a huge Van Gogh fan. I don't know why but I didn't see it before. Maybe I'm older or something I don't know. But I love this painting.
Did you get a chance to see some of his earlier (monochromatic) works? To follow his transformation from shades of earth to celestial lights makes you wonder about his mind. Did he travel from depression to euphoria? Sanity to insanity? Artistry to genius? Read about him sometime.
The museum is set up chronologically so you really get to experience the entire transformation of his painting style and it's really amazing to walk through it all. Very fascinating stuff. To watch him discover color as an artist as you walk through the museum makes for an unforgettable experience.
