On Nader

My feelings exactly. I really struggle with people bashing Nader. No, I don't think any of his presidential runs have helped the nation, but I also highly doubt that there is another person on this planet who cares more about making America a better place. In no way is this man a failure. Where would we be without everything he accomplished before the year 2000?

I thought he was the best until he played a direct part in creating the unholy world we now live in. I can't ever forgive him. I wonder if the families of the million or so dead can?

or... if you continue reading Fallows:
"I will always like and respect Ralph Nader and will always admire the wonderful things he has done. But I wish to God that he had not made this decision, or will reverse it soon. (And, I am sorry that saying this will make me an enemy in his eyes.) He is a better man than his recent decisions indicate."

Yes I meant exactly that. I agreed with Fallows' entire statement. I am deeply disappointed by his decision to run, I think it is another horrible mistake on his part. It just disturbs me when people say that he is a bad person for it. People make mistakes, people make bad decisions, but it is deeply important why they make those decisions and I am convinced that Ralph Nader is a good man, doing the wrong things for the right reason. But before the year 2000, he did the right things for the right reason, and if it had been nearly anyone other than Bush on the republican side in 2000 it wouldn't have been nearly as horrible. No one had any way of knowing that W would be the nightmare he is. That's why Nader's biggest error has been to repeat his horrific mistake.
